Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer
at Cloudpepper · Brussels, Belgium
About this role
Headquarters: Brussels, Belgium
URL: https://cloudpepper.io
At Cloudpepper, we build and operate the platform behind 10,000+ Odoo instances. Our control plane is built with Symfony/PHP, our automation runs on Ansible, and the infrastructure underneath is Linux, PostgreSQL, and Nginx.
This is not a pure infrastructure role. We're looking for a senior engineer who can work across both platform and infrastructure: building backend platform features, improving automation, and owning the reliability of production Odoo environments at scale.
Location: Remote (anywhere with CET overlap) or Brussels-based (Belgium)
Compensation: $150,000–$180,000/year
Schedule: Full-time, flexible working hours
What you'll do
- Design and maintain the Ansible-driven automation behind provisioning, deployment, scaling, backups, and restores
- Own core parts of our Linux production infrastructure, including performance, scaling, failover, and replication
- Build and extend platform features in our Symfony-based control plane
- Be the person who handles production issues when they escalate past support
- Work directly with the founders on architecture and priorities, with no product manager layer in between
What we're looking for
- Deep experience with PHP/Symfony
- Hands-on background in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure-heavy backend roles
- Comfortable in Linux administration at a production level
- Fluent with Ansible and infrastructure automation
- Production experience with PostgreSQL and Nginx: performance tuning, debugging bottlenecks under load, and designing setups that stay reliable at scale
- Solid grasp of CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Comfortable in Python for tooling and automation
- Able to debug across application, database, automation, and infrastructure layers
- Self-directed, takes ownership in a small team
- Writes clearly: design docs, incident postmortems, async updates that don't need a follow-up call
- Familiarity with Go and Odoo is a plus
Why join us
- Remote-first flexibility, with the option to work locally from Brussels
- High ownership and direct impact on a platform used by thousands of businesses
- A small, fast-moving team with very little bureaucracy
- Direct work with the founders, no layers in between

Why we flagged this for parents & caregivers
FlexCareers scored this listing 58/100 on parent-friendliness based on the language the employer used in their own posting. We picked up signals on: async. Read the application page closely and ask about parental leave, expected meeting hours, and core overlap windows during your first conversation. Employers who answer those questions clearly are usually the ones who'll respect the boundaries later.
Questions worth asking before you apply
- What are the required core hours of overlap, and which timezone are they in?
- How is on-call or after-hours coverage handled?
- What does parental leave actually look like — duration, pay, ramp back?
- What's the expected response time on Slack / chat outside of meetings?
- How does the team handle a sick kid day or a school pickup window?
